Contracting & Supply Chain Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Contracting & Supply Chain Manager, who will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of contracting and supply chain activities across Axxela. The role leads the end-to-end supply chain function, including sourcing, contract negotiation, vendor management, and logistics, to ensure the organisation secures quality goods and services at optimal cost while managing compliance, risk control, and supply continuity issues.

Scope of Responsibility and Accountability:

Developing and implementing a comprehensive sourcing strategy aligned with the organisation's operational and commercial objectives.
Conducting regular market analysis and benchmarking to identify sourcing opportunities, cost optimisation levers, and supply chain efficiencies.
Ensuring that all significant procurement activities are supported by competitive tendering, robust commercial evaluation, and sound market intelligence.
Maintaining a current and comprehensive understanding of market conditions, pricing trends, and supplier landscapes relevant to the organisation’s operations.
Oversee the planning and execution of procurement strategies for major projects and key categories across Axxela and all strategic business units (“SBUs”).
Translate business unit needs into actionable procurement and sourcing plans that support specific strategies and operational requirements.
Lead strategic sourcing and negotiations to secure favorable terms, ensuring value for money while upholding quality, delivery timelines, and environment, health, safety, sustainability, and quality (EHSSQ) standards.
Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, from vendor identification and prequalification to contract administration and post-contract performance management.
Drive innovation and cost reduction initiatives by identifying alternative suppliers, market opportunities, and process optimisation tactics.
Provide guidance on complex procurement transactions and contract interpretations to mitigate legal and financial risks.
Developing and implementing supply chain risk management frameworks to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor supply chain disruptions and single-source dependencies.
Coordinating with Projects, Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure procurement activities are fully integrated with project execution plans and operational requirements.
Overseeing import processes, customs clearance, and duty exemption applications and engagement with relevant regulatory authorities.

Requirements

A first degree from a recognized tertiary institution (e.g., Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field) with a minimum of second-class grade.
Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Contracting, or Operations in a structured and reputable organization (preferably Oil & Gas, FMCG, or Telecom).
Relevant professional certifications such as CIPS, CPM, CPSM are an added advantage.
